Is Suicide Approved by God?

Can one be reconciled to God after suicide? Have you thought of the following Biblical characters:

1. Samson said, “Let me die with the Philistines!” Then he pushed with all his might, and down came the temple on the rulers and all the people in it. Thus he killed many more when he died than while he lived, (Judges 16:30, NIV).

2. And then there is Judas, "So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself, (Matthew 27:5, NIV).

3. When Ahithophel saw that his advice had not been followed, he saddled his donkey and set out for his house in his hometown. He put his house in order and then hanged himself. So he died and was buried in his father’s tomb, (2nd Samuel 17:23, NIV).

What about the "Thought" of Suicide?

1. Elijah, had suicidal ideations, (But no real plan), about his desire to die! "....He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors"(1st Kings 19:4,b. NIV).

2. This writer (Dr. Hollis), earned certification in "Suicide Prevention." I also earned four (4) degrees: BA in Theology, MA in Psychology, a 2nd MA in Youth Ministry and Counseling, a Doctorate degree in Youth and Young Adult Ministry, with a concentration in Leadership, a Board Certified Chaplain, and is a Certified Family Treatment Therapist. But I, (Dr. Hollis) get my directives from God!

NOTE: While working as a Therapist for a certain counseling agency, I received a "911" call from the Police. They stated that one of my clients is "walking on the roof top of a ten (10) story building, and that he would speak to no one" but me! Evidently, my client had suicidal ideations and a plan! Hence, his prompted thoughts, expressed emotional threats to jump off the roof and kill himself...! Indeed, his thoughts were manifested through his self-destructive behavior!

NOTE: In March of 2016, my late wife was diagnosed with, "Colon Cancer." She was a Special Education School Teacher, and loved her students and her work. She wanted to return to school on October 17, 2016. However, she passed away on Monday November, 21, 2016.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE: My journey was filled with thoughts that were manifested in my emotions, words, and behaviors. A marriage of 33.5 years ended in one day! From the cemetery, to an empty home in one day...!

REFLECTION! "Don't you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple" (1st Corinthians 3:16, NLT).

NOTE: JESUS' Hebrew name is (Yes-hua), and it means Salvation, God Saves!

REFERENCE: "She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins" (Matthew 1:21, NIV).

Personally, I have thought of ending my life. However, my knowledge (Study) of the word of God prevented me from taking my life...! I say this word of encouragement...! "Don't harm yourself...! (Please see, Hosea 4:6)

REFERENCE: "But Paul shouted to him, “Stop! Don’t kill yourself! We are all here!” (Acts 16:28, NLT).

Suicide may be a Mental Thought, but it is NOT an Approved Option....And it is not in God's Salvation Plan for the World (Please see John 3:16; Revelation 21:4-5; Revelation 22:20.
